Are You Grateful?

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough” — Oprah Winfrey

Being grateful is a difficult thing to do. Social media, family, friends, colleagues and the internet all create a bridge to something called comparing. We juxtapose other’s quality of life with ours. However, we usually see their material things, not them. We see them as a mannequin and only take in their bags, stationery, hats, clothes, shoes, technology, cars etc. and detach it from their actual person. Craving for those things don’t help us physically obtain or make them fly to us for free. Instead, action and do something to make it a reality on you. This constant craving and looking at others like mannequins may also lead you to think that you are very poor or feel sorry for yourself. Look at the things you have. Pile them up, even though it is just the clothes you have on, a leaf, stick or grass. Even if it is just a piece of cardboard or the floor you have to sleep on.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough” — Aesop

Recently, one of my family members sadly passed away. However, I am grateful. In the past few years, my life changed drastically (in an unpleasant way), but I am grateful. I have learned, everything occurring in our lives are placed there at that moment for a reason. That event at that exact year, month, date and time. If my life didn’t have shift positions, I wouldn’t have the opportunity to visit that family member. If I hadn’t known that family member, I would feel very upset. If something horrible has happened, try thinking positively. (If …. didn’t happen then….. wouldn’t happen. If I didn’t change schools/jobs during this time I wouldn’t get….) Positivity will give you a hand and lift you up to restarting. Sometimes, we drive into a deep hole in the ground and feel like we will never be able to come back out again. However, as long as you believe, believe in yourself and start a fresh!
